Cape walk it off in extras as REX come up short

After a strong showing at home the night before, REX gets back on the road to take on the 3-4 Cape Catfish at Capaha Field in Cape Girardeau, Missouri

After a 54-minute weather delay, the Catfish struck early as DH Tank Sims homered to right field.
Then shortly after, in the bottom of the 2nd, third basemen Matthew Cash also homered in the same area as his counterpart.

Catcher Isaiah French extended the lead with a single to center field, and Nathan Bowie scored. After 3 innings, the Cape Catfish led 3-0.
REX baseball got going in the top of the 4th as DH Ben Jones smacked a RBI single to right field, driving in shortstop Nomar Garcia.

REX starter Landen Ray concluded his night with 4 innings pitched, allowing 5 Hits, 3 Earned Runs, and ended with a statement 8 strikeouts.

REX didn’t stop there. After back-to-back singles to start the 5th inning, REX put pressure on the Catfish defense. Catcher Eli Riley reached on a fielder’s choice in the top of the 5th, Left fielder Andrew Carter used his legs to steal second. The ball got away on the throw down to 2nd. Riech was able to score as the ball got away, and Carter got to third. Carter later scored on the fielder’s choice when the ball escaped the Cape catcher. Garcia was able to drive in the third run of the inning with a groundout to third base

The Catfish bounced back in the bottom of the 6th when 2B Colin Schmitke walked, 3B Matthew Cash came into tie it up 4-4.

Neither team was able to break the deadlock until extra innings
In the 10th, Garcia ripped an RBI double into the gap to score Wright for the go-ahead run.
In the bottom of the 10th, Cape was able to bring home 2 runs to win the game 6-5. REX fell to 3-5 overall, while the Cape Catfish improved to 4-4.
