Player Spotlight: Infielder Clay Wisner Signs With REX Baseball!
REX Baseball has signed its first player for the 2020 season, Clay Wisner. Wisner is a junior out of Malone University. He is a 5’11” and 195 pound infielder out of Bellefontaine, OH. He attended Bellefontaine High School.
While in high school, Wisner had an extraordinary career. He was named as a three-time All-Central Buckeye Conference infielder. During his junior and senior years, he combined for a batting average (BA) of.383 and an on base percentage (OBP) of .495. Other honors that Wisner picked up in high school were All-Miami Valley District and First Team All-Miami Valley District, First Team All-Area, and Academic All-District. During his freshman year at Malone University, Wisner appeared in twenty-five games and made seventeen starts at third base for the Pioneers. He had a BA of .339, an OBP of .403, and a slugging percentage (SLG) of .458. He scored seven runs (R) and sent eleven other runners home (RBIs). He hit one home run and doubled four times. In his sophomore year, Wisner appeared more regularly for the Pioneers as he started in forty-one of forty-three appearances. He started thirty-eight times at third base, twice at first base, and once as the designated hitter. He had a BA of .294, an OBP of .374, and a SLG of .373. He was able to cross home plate eighteen times while sending his teammates home fifteen times. He racked up four two-baggers, two dingers, and one triple as well. He ended the 2019 season with a FLD of .926.
