The Kings added a run in the bottom of the inning, but the REX still led after three innings 6-5.
The lead changed again in the bottom of the sixth inning when the Kings hit a two-run home run to give them a 7-6 lead. The REX responded again in the top of the seventh. This time Nelson and Harbison crossed home plate on a three-bagger by Leverenz. The Kings tied it up at eight in the bottom of the seventh.
