With a thrilling 9-8 win over Dubois County and a little help from Alton—who handed Normal a loss in game two of their doubleheader—REX Baseball has officially clinched the 2025 First Half Central Division Championship.

It’s a milestone achievement, marking the first time since 2018 that REX has made the Prospect League playoffs in back-to-back seasons.

On the offensive side, the team has been led by two of the league’s top performers. Felix Polanco sits atop the RBI leaderboard with 28 driven in, while Wally Diaz leads the league in home runs with 7. The offense has been relentless, combining timely hitting with aggressive baserunning. When REX hitters reached base, they made it count—Nomar Garcia led the entire league with 19 stolen bases, constantly pressuring opposing defenses.

But the real story of the first half has been the dominance of the pitching staff. Samuel Guadamuz has emerged as the unquestioned ace, helping push REX into the top three in both ERA and strikeouts, while leading the league in WHIP. Guadamuz leads all qualified REX pitchers in innings pitched, ERA, and strikeouts, and ranks second in WHIP—cementing his role as the workhorse of a lights-out rotation.

With the division title in hand, REX will host the Divisional Round of the 2025 Prospect League Playoffs on Thursday, August 1st at 6:35 p.m. EST at Bob Warn Field. The opponent is still to be determined.

Ticket information will be released soon, and Season Ticket Holders will have the opportunity to reserve their seats in advance. Stay tuned for more details as playoff baseball returns to Terre Haute!
