This week is the 2019 Prospect League All-Star Game! The best players in the Prospect League come together in Normal, IL to play East versus West. The REX have four players that have been named All-Stars this season! These players are outfielder Mitchell Garrity, third baseman Jacob Mulcahy, pitcher Jacob Frankel, and pitcher Colten Panaranto!
Outfielder Mitchell Garrity is having a wonderful season so far. The sophomore out of the University of Dayton has an AVG of .330 with fourteen RBIs through thirty-two appearances. He currently has five doubles, two triples, and two home-runs! He has been walked sixteen times and hit by ten pitches. He has nine steals and has crossed home plate twenty-six times as well!
The sophomore infielder, Jacob Mulchay, out of Bellarmine University is having a solid season also! He has an AVG of .259 with nineteen RBIs through thirty-two games. Mulcahy has eight two-baggers and three dingers so far this season. He has reached a base on balls seventeen times and has been hit by a pitch once. He has been able to swipe four bases this season while scoring twenty runs.
Sophomore pitcher Jacob Frankel out of Indiana University Southeast has been stellar as one of the closers for the REX this season! He has made eighteen appearances and pitched 28.2 innings. Through those appearances he has zero wins and one loss, but has five saves with an ERA of 2.82. Frankel has struck out twenty-six batters while only walking twelve and giving up twenty hits.
Finally, Terre Haute native pitcher, Colten Panarnto has been named to the All-Star team and he has been putting up great numbers for the Wabash Valley. Through sixteen games, Panaranto has compiled a record of 7-1 with seven saves. In twenty-three innings pitched he has an ERA of 2.34 while striking out twenty-six batters. Panaranto has also only walked seventeen batters and only allowed eighteen hits.
