REX Owner, Brian Dorsett, Elected to Hall of Fame!
A REX Owner is now a Hall of Famer. Owner and Terre Haute native Brian Dorsett has been elected to the Buffalo Bisons Hall of Fame! The Bisons are a Minor League Triple-A Team in the International League. They are currently the Triple-A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays. Dorsett played catcher for the Bisons during the 1987, 1991, and 1992 season.
In 1992, Dorsett had a memorable season as he was the team MVP for the Bisons per milb.com. During that year, he was responsible for 102 runs crossing the plate, which at the time was a single season record for Minor League Baseball per milb.com. For catchers, he still holds the team records for AVG, hits, doubles and home runs for the Bisons. He had an average of .289, 142 hits, thirty-five two-baggers, and twenty-one homers per milb.com. During this 1992 season, he hit a grand slam as a pinch hitter against the Indianapolis Indians and according to milb.com that accomplishment has not happened again. During his career with the Bisons, Dorsett racked up forty-six doubles, twenty-seven dingers, 124 RBIs, and an AVG of .282 per milb.com.
Dorsett played for eight seasons in Major League Baseball and appeared in 163 games. During this time, he played for the Cleveland Indians, the New York Yankees, the California Angels, the San Diego Padres, the Cincinnati Reds, and the Chicago Cubs. He ended his career with an AVG of .224, nine home runs, and fifty-one RBIs per milb.com.
Dorsett will be inducted into the Hall tomorrow night during the Bisons game against the Syracuse Mets.
